Dr. Hunt graduated from Purdue University in 2018. He worked for Smith Veterinary in high school and in the summers of undergrad. He practices small animal medicine and surgery with a strong interest in canine reproduction.
Dr. Madge graduated from Purdue University in 1976 and has been practicing for more than 40 years. Dr. Madge practices small animal medicine and surgery. She has received distinguished recognition in continuing education from the State of Indiana.
Jenni has been fortunate tobe working here for 40+ years doing the job she always wanted, but never dreamed she would have. She has a Golden Retriever named, Kya, who has her very well trained! She enjoys working with all of our clients, their pets, and our fabulous staff.
Joni Bollenbacher grew up right here in Berne, IN. Her first job was working for Dr. Madge. After high school she went to Purdue University and graduated with her Bachelor's in Veterinary Technology. Straight out of college, she worked as the head surgery technician and office manager for a multi- doctor practice in Fort Wayne for 11 years. She then decided I would take some time off to raise her family when her girls were home. In 2019 she decided to come back to where her love for Veterinary medicine started and work at Smith Veterinary Hospital again. She and her husband, Vince have three daughters (Reagan, Charlee, and Kennedy). They live on a grain and turkey farm. She enjoy's showing her cutting horse and trail riding in her spare time. She has several cats, horses, a Great Dane (Samson), and a Brussels Griffon (Gabby).
Meghan graduated from Adams Central High School in 2008. She worked here at Smith Vet through high school and some during college. She went to Purdue university and graduated with her Bachelors in Veterinary Technology in 2012. She married her husband in July 2015 and has two little boys at home. They live with their Husky mix, Willow out in the country near Monroe. She's very excited to be back at Smith Veterinary Hospital, and to be a part of their great team!
Valerie has been working here at Smith Veterinary Hospital since....well her entire life. She is Dr. Madge and Dr. Larry's youngest daughter. She has grown up in the practice and assist's wherever she's needed. Her off the clock time is filled with animal related activities. She breeds and shows Cardigan Welsh Corgis. Her dogs are shown in conformation as well as being her constant companions. She has a beloved Percheron mare named Phin, a Paint mare named Butter and Ducks her Gypsy Vanner Mare. She also keep a small group of miniature barnyard animals including a zebu cow and two Kune Kune pigs. Obviously, she has a strong love of animals and is very happy to be working here with you and your pets.
Katie graduated from Adams Central High School in 2009. She went to Anderson University and graduated from Troyer School of Real Estate. She lives in Berne with her 3 dogs, Lila (Goldendoodle), Cash (Mini Labradoodle), and Lucy (Beagle), and two fluffy cats named Ginger & Chevelle. She is married to Larry Butler who works as detective at the Adams County Sheriff's Dept. She has 2 bonus kiddos (Gunner-16 & Krosbi- 14) as well as two Foster loves (2 & 3). In her spare time she enjoys buying, selling, and collecting antiques. She's very excited to be at Smith Veterinary Hospital, and to be a part of this great team and our wonderful clients! Animals have always been a passion of hers and it's her dream to be working here with them every day!
Jen has been working in the Veterinary field for about 20 years in a variety of roles- Veterinary Assistant, Animal Behavior Consultant, obedience & puppy class teacher, and currently working as a groomer. She loves all aspects of working in the Veterinary field and loves working with our clients as well as their pets. She is married with 3 kids. Jen enjoys riding her horse, Chiquita with her family and friends, helping with 4-H, and all of the kids sporting events. We have 4 dogs, 3 horses, 2 goats, and 2 cats. I also have trained my own diabetic alert dog, Cinch that I bring to work with me every day.
Allie graduated from Adams Central in 2016. She started working at Smith Vet during college as a kennel worker. She graduated from International Business College with an Associates in Veterinary Technology in March 2019. She is engaged and planning to get married next year! She has 2 dogs (Bailey & Missy), a big fluffy cat (Milo), and a kitten she adopted from working here (Willow).
